Every January 9, the Traslación of the Black Nazarene (commemoration of the “solemn transfer” of the image’s copy from San Nicolás de Tolentino in Intramuros to Quiapo) makes its way along the streets of Quiapo in the Philippine capital of Manila, with attendees reaching up to 12 million and the procession taking as long as 22 hours in 2012, 2017 and 2019.
